i went on the kaspersky website found this solution:
Restart Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and try to update databases
If the update process ends with the same error, then try to restart the application and update the databases once again. In order to do so, perform the following actions:
right-click the application icon in the right lower part of the screen in the Taskbar notification area
select Exit from the context menu that will open
start the application. To do so, select Start - All programs - Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 - Kaspersky Internet Security 2011
start the update process via the application interface as it is described above
when i clicked on the exit at the task bar and tried to opn it from start menu it is now not opening....i dnt hav a CD of it as well...

Open Kaspersky Total Security. In the Notification Center window, click the Update button corresponding to the message 'Databases are corrupted'. Wait until the update process is complete. Make sure the product is updated and functions normally. Twice now since upgrading to KAV 5.0325 I have noticed that the KAV icon in the system tray has turned gray. It turns out that the AV database is corrupted and it asks if I want to update. So far, I am not able to update this morning so no AV on my PC. Is this a problem with the new release or ar. ‘Black list’ of key files is a Kaspersky Antivirus database that contains the information about key files which cannot be used by Kaspersky Lab software any more. There is some number of ways a key can end up in this database:
- The key has been replaced with a new one as stolen;
- The key has been replaced with a new one as malfunctioning;
- The key was available on pirate servers (for free download).
- The key has been replaced with a new one after being activated on a computer with incorrect system time/date;
Error Message:
The ‘black list’ of key files is named blst. This file is saved and downloaded along with databases (anti-spam, anti-virus, network attacks). Kaspersky Lab software cannot function without a ‘black list’ file.
Kaspersky Lab software notifies hereof and stops functioning:
- if the file blst is damaged;
- if there is no blst file on your PC;
- if the Kaspersky Endpoint Security you have installed is using a key file from the ‘black list’;

Fix Error #1: Kaspersky Repair button
- Click the Start button (In Windows XP System should then click Run).
- Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter keyword.
- Locate the Kaspersky product. Click once on it and click Change at the top.
- Click the Repair button.
- Once done you will need to restart the computer.
Fix Error #2: Clear updates repository
If errors occur when updating applications, clear the Kaspersky Security Center 10 repository and download the updates once again.
To clear the updates repository:
- Open Kaspersky Security Center 10.
- Go to Additional → Repositories.
- Right-click the Kaspersky Lab software updates and patches item.
- From the context menu, select All Tasks → Clear updates repository.
The clearing process will start. Software updates will be removed from the Administration Server repository.

Also the message “Black list of keys is corrupted” is displayed in the Licensing window and the license’s status becomes Invalid.
If you click on the Fix button, the Security Problems window displaying the error “Black list of keys is corrupted” opens. In order to resolve the problem, perform the following actions:
- Disable the application Self-Defense.
- Enable display of hidden files and folders.
- delete the file blst2-0607g.xml. By default, the file is located in the folder:
- C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataKaspersky LabAVP13Bases (for OS Windows XP)
- C:ProgramDataKaspersky LabAVP13Bases (for OS Windows Vista/7)
- Update the program anti-virus databases.
- When the update is over, exit from the application. To do so, right-click the application icon in the Taskbar notification area in the right lower corner of the screen and select Exit from the menu.
- Run the application (Start – All programs – Kaspersky Internet Security – Kaspersky Internet Security).
- Enable the application Self-Defense.
If the recommendations given above did not help you to rectify the problem, then remove Kaspersky Internet Security and then install the application once again.
